Japanese automaker Toyota wants to "preserve jobs" on its Valenciennes
plant in the "complex context" of the French and European auto market,
said the CEO of Toyota France, Pascal Ruch, Saturday on France Info.
"Today, our goal is primarily to preserve jobs, sustain jobs, and then see if we can eventually hire even more people" on the site of Valenciennes, said Ruch, noting the "complicated context (...) the French market but also European."
Ruch said the hybrid version represented "almost 50% of orders on the Yaris' model which is manufactured in Valenciennes. Production of the hybrid version of the city began this year, alongside petrol and diesel models.
"Whether Sevelnord with PSA, whether Valenciennes, we continue to invest in the French market," said CEO Totota France.
